Chemistry 2100

Labs begin on Thursday, September 10th, 2015 at 2 PM in C5001

Students must bring the Chem 2100 Lab Manual (these are available at the bookstore), goggles and lab coat. Notebooks will be provided in the lab.
In Lab 1 you will be doing the pipette calibration.

Mid-term Test: Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 1 pm.
Midterm tests will take place at the normal class time in SN3042
We will be using the 9th Edition of Quantitative Chemical Analysis by Daniel C. Harris. You will also purchase access to Sapling for online homework assignments.

Course Overview
Treatment of data, gravimetric analysis, volumetric analysis including oxidation-reduction titrations using electrochemical techniques, the use of ion specific electrodes, polyprotic acids and titration of polyprotic acids, EDTA titrations, phase extractions, liquid chromatography, ion exchange chromatography and titrations in non-aqueous systems. Spectrophotometric trace analysis and titration, and introduction to mass spectrometry.
